Jo has lived in Greenwich and Lewisham for most of her life, and first heard about Home-Start about 40 years ago when a friend volunteered and spoke passionately about the organisation, and the support it gave to families and to the volunteer too.

Jo worked for over 30 years in the NHS first in Dartford, then in Lewisham as a Speech and Language Therapist.  She worked in many different settings, including Early Years, clinics, schools and home visits. She was involved in developing and delivering training to others who worked with children who were experiencing delay or difficulty with communication.

Jo worked for 5 years in the Sure Start programme in Lewisham where she implemented an evidence based Baby Talk project. Jo joined HSG as a volunteer after retirement – doing food deliveries in lockdown and home visiting several families for emotional and practical support also.  She also volunteers in a local school supporting children with reading.

Jo has 4 grown up children and 3 wonderful grandchildren.

Carolyn has lived in Greenwich for many years and first came across Home-Start Greenwich when she met a volunteer at a drop-in session she was attending at a Home-Start Greenwich Children Centre with her grandson.

She joined as a volunteer in 2017, after her retirement from teaching, and has supported two families through home visits and was delivering food parcels to vulnerable families during the height of the Pandemic.

During her teaching career, she worked in primary schools in several Inner London boroughs in a variety of roles – class teacher, reading support and advisory work with a focus on ethnic minority achievement. She has worked closely with refugee families and children for whom English is an additional language. She also acted as teacher-governor for twelve years.

She has two adult children and is now the proud grandma of two wonderful grandchildren.

Joey is a fellow of the ACCA. He served as finance director to Home-Start Greenwich for almost 6 years.  He has more than 25 years of financial management and board experience with organisations in multiple business sectors.

He is a Director of Woods Foodservice, a supplier to top end hospitality providers and restaurants in London and the surrounding areas.

Amy brings over 20 years’ experience in digital transformation and strategy.  She is currently a leader at Google, responsible for the global partnership.  Prior to this she led the digital transformation for the largest UK media owners, News UK and Global Radio.   She is an active member of groups supporting women, loves fitness and giving back to the Greenwich community

Family and Systemic Psychotherapist | Specialist in Dementia Support | Founder of the Bessie Makatini Foundation.

With nearly three decades of continuous practice as a systemic psychotherapist, I bring deep expertise in working with children, families, and older adults in both NHS settings and private practice. I am also the founder of the Bessie Makatini Foundation, a dementia charity dedicated to supporting individuals and families affected by dementia in Lamontville, Durban, and across South Africa.

Kaan has over 25 years of recruitment experience and is the director of Russell King Associates. He has developed a network of business relationships within the Greenwich Borough, leading him to be on a panel of judges for the Greenwich Business Awards.

I am a parent of two grown up children and I am a Home-Start Greenwich trustee. 

As a trustee, I use my experience and expertise which I have developed within my working life to support Home-Start Greenwich achieve its goals.

My working career consists of 16 years at American Express where I was responsible for managing large budgets and teams, being appointed as a Buying Director for a large wholesale business and most recently, setting up a successful security business.

Ivis is an experienced finance professional, community leader, and advocate, bringing her years of expertise in financial management, governance, and public service to her role as Trustee of Home-Start Greenwich.  She currently works as Finance Business Partner at the Royal College of General Practitioners and previously held senior leadership roles as a councillor in the Royal Borough of Greenwich, including Cabinet Member for Finance, Resources and Social Value and Chair of the Children and Young People Scrutiny Panel.  Ivis is a Greenwich resident who is deeply committed to strengthening families and communities.
